Title: 14 Cleaning Hacks To Up Your Eco-Friendly Game
Keeping your kitchen organized is one thing, keeping it clean a whole other ball park. In a space that you use so frequently and that gets messy every day, it’s important to establish a regular cleaning routine. Since you’re working with food in the kitchen, it’s a great place to use Eco-friendly cleaning alternatives!

Baking soda, vinegar, lemons and Co. are likely already stocked in your cabinets. Here are a few ways to substitute toxic cleaning products with these natural ingredients:

  1. Bring burnt pans back to life with baking soda: Bring 1 cup of water and 1 cup of vinegar to a boil in your burnt pan. Remove from heat and add 2 Tbsp of baking soda. Let it sizzle, then empty the pan and scrub with a scouring tool. Rinse the pan with hot water and it’ll be good as new!
  2. Clean out your garbage disposal with ice cubes: Shove a tray full of ice cubes down your garbage disposal. Turn cold water on and run the disposal. The ice cubes will sharpen the blades and unclog your drain. You can toss in a few lemon wedges when the water is starting to recede to help with bad odor.
  3. Polish your stove top with vegetable oil: Put a small amount of oil on a soft cloth and rub nasty grease stains off your stove top in a circular motion. Use water and a drop of soap to wipe your cook top clean.
  4. Clean your microwave with lemon water: Fill a small bowl with water and the juice of one lemon. Toss the squeezed lemon halves in the bowl and place it in the microwave. Run it for 3 minutes and let it sit for 5. The lemon-infused steam will loosen up any stains that you can simply wipe off with a damp cloth afterwards. Plus, the lemon water will make your kitchen smell amazing!
  5. Scrub your cabinets with coconut oil: Mix 1 part coconut oil with 2 parts baking soda and scrub the mixture on your grimy cabinets with a soft cloth. Use a toothbrush to scrub hard to reach places and clean the cabinets off with a damp cloth afterwards.

As you see, there are many ways to clean your kitchen without spending money on expensive chemicals. Best of all: These Eco-friendly cleaning hacks also keep your conscience clean as you’re actively contributing to a healthier planet.

I'm loving that coconut oil trick for the cabinets. I'm going to try that! Not only would it be nice to have cleaner cabinets, but I would love the scent. Mine are not new, so a bit of grime has definitely collected.
