The Difference Between a Home Stager and a Home Organizer

Getting ready to sell your home? Remember first impressions can make or break the sale. If you want to get top dollar for your home you need to put a good amount of effort into making it look inviting. It is easy to get overwhelmed and confused about where to start and what to do. Good thing there are plenty of professionals out there eager to help you prep your home for a sale. Who are these professionals and what can they do for you?

You might think that when you are staging your home for sale you have to empty the space then hire a fancy home staging company or interior designer. This is not always the case. You might just simply need a professional organizer in your corner. So what is the difference between a home organizer and an interior designer/staging company, you wonder?

A few things. Unlike a home staging company that you rent furniture and decor from, or an interior designer that wants you to purchase all new items, a professional organizer is going to help you declutter and then showcase items that you already own. As a professional organizer my job is to assess and reimagine the items in your home.

Countless times my clients wanted to go out and buy all new storage to house their collections. This is when I reign them in. Nine times out of ten the clients have everything they need, and then some, by the time we are done donating and decluttering. By bringing in a professional organizer you are not only making your home feel inviting to buyers, you are also prepping for a stress-less move into your new home.

A home stager profits by placing cookie cutter items from one home sale into the next, whereas a home organizer works out what fits, functions and flows in the space for the sale, and what needs to be packed away for your new home. So next time you are thinking about selling your home and need to get it staged, remember your local professional organizer will give you more bang for your buck.

Thank you for explaining that by hiring a professional organizer you are both prepping for a less stressful move and making your home more inviting to buyers. A third benefit could be that you'll be able to see what you really need and therefore save money by not buying more things. I'll have to look into professional home organizers.

I completely agree that first impressions can make or break the sale of your house so you want to make sure that you have a good one. Having your furniture in an order that looks appealing will make buyers like the way your house looks more. I'm going to try and stage my house so that it looks better. Maybe I should get some professional help.

You made a good point that home organizers try to see what sort of items fit the aesthetic of a home. As an amateur interior design enthusiast, I think having a person to consult about the interior design of my properties would be beneficial if I'm looking to rent or sell them someday. Maybe I could even learn a thing or two in developing my philosophies when designing a room.

It's convenient to learn that a professional organizer can help transform and declutter your living space. My friend, who recently arrived from a 5-year stay in a different country, finds it a hassle to fix his luggage. I'll pitch this idea to him so he'd consider it.

This was an interesting article! I did not know that a home stager would differ from those interior designers. If you look at both professions, they have a lot of similarities. I'm grateful to you for explaining the difference between them. I had a colleague who had worked as a home stager. It was nice to know this intriguing piece of information.

A professional home organizer will help you declutter your house and then showcase the items that you own already. A home organizer will evaluate and reimagine the things you have at home.
